Pickleball Classes Fall 2020
Pickleball Classes (unless otherwise noted) are offered through the GVR Course Catalogue. For registration information pick up course catalouges at the Rec centers or go to the GVR website.
Pickleball 101 (Introduction)
Join us for the redesigned Pickleball 101 class! Learn the fundamentals of pickleball, the fastest growing senior sport in North America. Class consists of 4 2-hour sessions on consecutive Wednesdays. Classes focus on court layout, rules, etiquette, grip, position, drills for serving/return of serve, volley/dink shot and drills for both. The last class will be a tournament to provide you with practice and experience that may help you prepare for the Senior Games! Paddles available for students. Wear tennis shoes.
2020 Pickleball 101 Classes:
Tuesdays -October 6, 13, 20, 27- 3:00-5:00 Pickleball Center courts
Wednesdays - October 7,14, 21, 28 - 3:00-5:00 Pickleball Center courts
Tuesdays -November 3, 10, 17, 24- 3:00-5:00 Pickleball Center courts
Wednesdays - November 4, 11, 18, 25 - 3:00-5:00 Pickleball Center courts
Prerequisite is 2.5 or better or having completed PB 101. Emphasis on 3rd shot, drop, drive or lob, and when to use each one. Proper footwork for defending the lob. Team strategies depending on court positioning.
2020 Pickleball 201 Classes:
Mondays -October 5, 12, 19 - 3:00-5:00 Pickleball Center courts
Prerequisite is 2.5 or better and/or having completed PB 201. Progression on 3rd shot by players developing a better understanding of when and which third shot is appropriate. Example: when should you not use a third shot drop? Introduce NVZ lob. Review footwork for defending the lob.
2020 Pickleball 202 Classes:
Mondays -November 9, 16, 23 - 3:00-5:00 Pickleball Center courts
The Helle Sparre DD system of playing pickleball. Participants must be 3.5 or receive special permission from instructor as to 3.0. No exceptions. Players will learn how to set up their partners for success using this system. Also, shot selection, placement and when and why will be addressed.

2020 Pickleball 301 Classes:
SNAP Pickleball NEW
SNAP pickleball will help you become a Smart, Nimble, And Purposeful pickleball player by teaching you strategies, court position, footwork and teamwork. You will also learn what shot to use, when to use it, and how to execute it. This 3 week course runs for 2 hours each week and is filled with information that will help you elevate your game to the next level.
